Justice For All\u2019s Save Uyghur Campaign issues the following statement in response to President Trump\u2019s meeting with Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Justice For All<\/span><\/a>\u2019s <\/span>Save Uyghur<\/span><\/a> Campaign strongly condemns U.S. President Donald J. Trump\u2019s recent <\/span>meeting<\/span><\/a> with General Secretary Xi Jinping, warning that it undermines America\u2019s official genocide recognition and risks violating the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We have formally registered our position with the U.S. State Department. This is a dangerous display of political hypocrisy and violation of policy.\u00a0 The meeting, which took place amid reports of renewed U.S.\u2013China cooperation on rare earth minerals, directly undermines America\u2019s own recognition of the Chinese government\u2019s ongoing <\/span>genocide<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> crimes against humanity<\/span><\/a> against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This bilateral contact represents a troubling shift from accountability toward normalization with a regime credibly accused of mass internment, forced labor, sexual violence, and the destruction of religious and cultural identity.It comes just four years after the Trump administration itself declared, through the U.S. Department of State, that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is perpetrating genocide and crimes against humanity against Uyghurs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica cannot champion human rights and shake hands with with those accused of genocide in the same breath,\u201d said Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All. \u201cThe Trump\u2013Xi meeting betrays the very principles on which U.S. foreign policy claims to stand. If we compromise our values for minerals, we sell out the Uyghurs and our nation\u2019s moral standing at once.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Reports<\/span><\/a> of a potential U.S.\u2013China rare earth or mineral cooperation deal raise serious legal and ethical red flags under the <\/span>Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA)<\/b>. Under the UFLPA, any goods mined, produced, or manufactured in whole or in part in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, or by an entity on the UFLPA Entity List, are presumed to involve forced labor and are barred from entry into the United States under Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>UFLPA <\/span><\/a>establishes a rebuttable presumption that any product originating from East Turkistan is linked to forced labor, including raw materials such as lithium, graphite, and rare earth elements. The CCP\u2019s systematic use of forced labor across the region feeds directly into China\u2019s control of critical minerals and manufacturing, making any U.S.\u2013China resource agreement inseparable from the machinery of oppression.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEntering a mineral deal with the Chinese government effectively means doing business with forced labor,\u201d Imam Mujahid added. \u201cThe UFLPA was enacted precisely to prevent this kind of complicity. Allowing such trade would betray both American law and the Uyghur people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
