Justice For All Denounces U.S.-China Mineral Deal That Violates Uyghur Forced Labor Ban and Genocide Determination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C  – June 13, 2025

Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign strongly condemns the Trump administration’s new agreement with the Chinese Communist Regime, which undermines both U.S. law and the government’s own genocide determination by facilitating access to rare earth minerals sourced through forced labor in Chinese-occupied East Turkistan.

Despite the United States’ formal recognition of the ongoing genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples—a determination made under the first Trump administration—this latest deal prioritizes economic interests over human rights. The agreement comes as a June 2025 report by Global Rights Compliance exposes how critical minerals from Chinese-occupied East Turkistan are tainted by state-imposed forced labor and enter global supply chains, implicating major U.S. brands and industries such as Avon, Walmart, Nescafé, Coca-Cola, Starbucks and Sherwin-Williams.

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) prohibits the importation of all “goods, wares, articles, and merchandise mined, produced or manufactured wholly or in part in any foreign country by forced labor.” This new deal directly contradicts that mandate.

Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign demands that the U.S. government immediately cease all such agreements and fully enforce the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act in line with its stated policy.

Quotes.

“The U.S. government cannot claim to stand against genocide while simultaneously enabling the economic machinery that sustains it.” – Arslan Hidayat, Team Lead, Justice For All’s Save Uyghur campaign.

“It is unconscionable that the U.S. government would strike deals with a regime committing genocide, especially after formally recognizing the atrocities against the Uyghur people. By prioritizing rare earth minerals over fundamental human rights, the Trump administration is not only breaking U.S. law, but also betraying the very values the United States claims to uphold.” – Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President, Justice For All.
